Jesus Calls us to do the Same Miracles He Does
Our Consciousness is our Deepest Self and Primary Creative Force
“Consciousness does not just passively reflect the objective material world; it plays an active role in creating reality itself.” – Stanislav Grof
“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as a derivative of consciousness.” – Max Planck
“Life is consciousness expressing itself in form. All is alive. All is intelligent.” - P.M.H. Atwater
Our Consciousness is also a Form of Energy
The understanding of energy I outlined two weeks ago [HERE] and Einstein’s equation that E=MC2, matter IS energy, both help us make sense of the chapter on Near Death Experiences [HERE]. There we learned that consciousness, our mind and thoughts, exist separately from our brains. We as entities continue to exist after death, just without a physical body. We as Christians also are taught this in scripture. When our body physically dies, we know we (our consciousness) will go somewhere to be with God and other loved ones who have died before us. One might use the word “soul” instead of “consciousness.” It is that part of us that exists forever, with our memories and awareness. Consciousness is a non-corporeal form of energy. That is why when our material body “dies,” that material energy separates from our consciousness energy, and our consciousness energy, our deepest self, continues to exist independent of the material world.
Everything has Consciousness
And here I will make a bold statement: All matter, all of the physical universe, has consciousness. If everything is energy, why does some of it have consciousness, awareness, and some does not? The answer is that all of it participates in some form of consciousness. All is One in God. There are stories of people who find that they can communicate with trees and rocks and sense the energy of all that is on the Earth. It seems that energy just shifts around from form to form, in a variety of vibrations, and they all contain at least a bit of consciousness.
Now, the consciousness of a human is radically different from that of a stone, of course, but it still is the same material. All of it is of God.
“There can be no doubt about it—what we call inorganic matter is certainly animate in its own way.” – Rev. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Everything is energy. Everything has consciousness. The material realm and the spiritual realm are different manifestations of the same thing and all are equally important to God. The odd thing is that we humans live as though there is only one form of reality, the material world. We utterly ignore the other forms of energy found in the transcendent world. Salvation is another way of speaking of enlightenment. It is recognizing the truth of reality that all is energy; all is God; all is love. Jesus came to show us how to live as both physical and spiritual beings, integrating all energies.
Our Material Brain doesn’t Create our Consciousness, rather our Consciousness Creates the Material World
In its simplest form, quantum physics says that our thoughts and intentions create the material universe. Therefore, our consciousness creates our brain, not the other way around. Remember, the material world is not solid, but just vibrating energy. Our thoughts are just vibrating energy. We can use one form of energy to affect other forms of energy, just as Jesus uses his thoughts and intentions to heal, and as he teaches us to use our faith (thoughts and trust) to move mountains. This is how Jesus lives. This is how we are called to live as well.
Our thoughts and consciousness = energy = matter. They are all one and the same.
Jesus came to wake us up to the truth of how reality works.
Jesus models love of all, even enemies, because All Is One. He forgives. He heals. He proclaims God’s love. He includes all, there are no outcasts. He opens our eyes to the divinity of all. He illustrates how there is both a material world and a transcendent world, and said that we shouldn’t get stuck in only the material.
Jesus says, “If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?” - John 3:12
We are to live in both realms simultaneously. He models how to do this by manipulating energy, found in both realms, using thoughts and intentions to perform miracles. He shows us we need not fear death, because death doesn’t exist. Jesus teaches us how to use all our human capacities, even ones about which we had previously been unaware.
Jesus said, “Very truly, I tell you, the one who [trusts] in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these.” - John 14:12
Jesus performs miracles not to be nice to people on his way to the cross. He performs miracles to show us what we ourselves are capable of! The healing and miracles themselves are part of the gospel message. In other words, he’s not the only one who can do these things. Jesus never said to worship him. He said to follow him.
